1. I've heard nothing regarding "paddle shifters" (if that's what you're referring to?) for the new Camaro.
2. Get a 2nd opinion regarding your transmission. Personally, I'd change the fluid, assuming you like your car and want to keep it in good working order.
I don't know anything about the mechanic whom you visited, but I'm disappointed in his advice.
