my personal belief is that unless people understand the mechanics of this type of shifting, they don't really need to be doing it. their driveline will thank them. transmissions in passenger cars use helical-cut gears for smoothness & quietness. the trade-off is that they don't mesh together as easily & are a little weaker than straight-cut gears.

Yea the trick is to blip the gas then let off, to take off the load and shift.
And its like floating the clutch in a big truck on a hill, do or die if you want it done right.
Had a dirt bike I loved to ride, but it had no brakes or a clutch, still rode it every day, just gotta learn how to blip that gas to take the load off the shifter and its smooth sailing up and down shifting [for brakes].
