I just bought one to replace my stolen T1i. I gotta say it is absolutely worth the price. The quicker shutter speed and the pop-out screen themselves are worth the extra money. Plus all the extra setting on top of the what the previous models would let you do is cool.
If your new to DSLRs, you would not regret this, it's fun to play around with it an figure out which settings are appropriate for the picture you are trying to take. I do reccomend to buy at least a cheap UV filter to protect the lense. I never use my camera without at least one filter on it.

Lenses are really expensive though....
