My 05 GT with 4.10's, about 500lbs more weight gets 22-23 MPG on the highway and nearly 18-19 on the street.
Pretty sure it has to do with the efficiency of the motor, all of the cooling mods, the difference in weight between the ZL1, etc.

He is quoting the factory EPA highway rating. So don't act like your car is some fuel sipper, because your 2005 Mustang GT was rated 15 mpg/ 23 mpg (stock) by the same EPA standard that rated the C6Z06 at 14 mpg/ 24 mpg (stock).

But if you want to talk real world, observed cruising, a Z06 can easily get 26-28 mpg, some guys even claim 30 mpg but I haven't been able to do it.
Also, it's a 7.0L engine on top of everything else that still gets better fuel efficiency than an engine that is 2/3rds its displacement
