what's interesting is thinking about the evolution of facebook & its decreasing appeal to me. back when i joined (before 90% of y'all even knew
thefacebook.com even existed), it was a nifty thing i actually used to talk to old school friends i hadn't seen in years. it was much better than myspace because it wasn't trashed up with all the crap involved with being a public site. after a couple years, they started adding high schools & it really started going downhill. then a few months after that, they opened up to anybody with an email address. that's when i took a year off & couldn't've cared less about it. right before i joined the air force, i started getting back on because it was easier to let all my friends & family know how i was doing & i periodically check it nowadays.
all that said, i think it's turned to total crap now but has somehow still managed to not be as sleazy as myspace. i still wouldn't care one bit if it was wiped from the interwebz.
what i don't get is if this group is serious about trying to destroy such a huge icon, why on earth would they have publicly announced it? God knows facebook has just as good of hackers & computer-land nerds working for them as they have & one of their fundamental missions is to NEVER crash. they've built enough crazy computer mumbo jumbo that could make a thousand elephants sterile just to keep from keeping a now-global enterprise from going down. and now these guys have just given them notice to double-check every crack & possible loophole in their system
