It's not just "let's shut it down", it's let's shut it down and ruin people's lives while we have our hands on sensitive information.
I think it's hard to pinpoint what Anonymous actually does, since it's probably a very wide variety of hackers. Some that do it for political reasons, while some do it for fun/attention, and others to steal identities.

Can you honestly sit there and prove that the hackers of the PS network used other peoples sensitive information?

As for facebook, you probably shouldn't put credit card info, your home address, or reuse a password that belongs to something important, like your email or online banking password.

As for me, i have nothing to worry about if my account gets hacked because i'm not dumb enough to do any of those things.
