Cruze is a great car. Ours is an LTZ RS and driving my "normal" speed on the highway results in 32 or so with the EPA being 36. You have to really watch your speed and passing if you want to hit 42 with an ECO. Similar to the Equinox 4 cylinder FWD. EPA is 32 which is impressive, but you really have to watch your speed to get close to that in the real world.
Also the 2012 got a new transmission which results in +2 mpg highway (38) and a big improvement in drivability.
