I have a 2011 Cruze 1.8 LS that I bought for my daughter for college transportation. It's a good looking car with some nice ammenities, but it cannot get out of it's own way. The lack of power scares the shit out of me and my wife. As far as MPG is concerned it's about average with the 4 bangers out there.
I will add this, I was just in California a few weeks ago and my wife and I rented a Nissan Altima 4 cyl. Very impressive acceleration and handling. I drove that thing for 4 days, and used very little gas....very little. I almost did not fill it for the rental return. We went all over Monterrey and Carmel, down past Big Sur, and even some out of the way stuff....I was expecting like a half a tank since I'm used to driving 4 bangers that have no balls. I must say, for the money I'd test drive that car for sure. As far as the ricer crap is concerned, it's a standard transportation car, not some winged out ground efx folgers muffler thing, just a standard transportation car. The one I just rented was an auto of course, off Hertz. This was my first drive in one and I was very impressed for a 4. The 50-ish more HP and torque made a big difference over the Cruze for sure.....
