It's called a livable wage

Guys I hate to say this, but one could argue professional sports aren't worth the money they get paid. BUT the laws of economics says otherwise. I would say the job is worth what it is worth. That is why we have Mexicans picking lettuce for $3-4 bucks an hour (or less). What GM is really struggling with is the heathcare costs for retirees, so the labor wage doesn't bother me too much. Keep in mind the more the UAW makes an hour the more that car is going to cost. If the US made car costs more then a COMPETITIVE FOREIGN car the Americans typically won't buy it.

Look at WalMart, why do people shop there? Because it is $1 less at Wal Mart. Where does all (in general) the junk from Wal Mart come from? China, Japan...etc. Cost is still cost and profit is still profit. If you want a "liveable wage" then all the stuff you buy is going to cost more, it is simple math. I'm not saying it is wrong, I think people should make what they can get. If that is $50 an hour great, but if it is only $10 an hour, well pick a different career. Just don't expect to make $50 an hour and then go buy a Toyota because it is cheaper, and you perceive it to be better. Just my $.02 worth.
