I have one.....and as far as if you should do it.....well......that all depends on:

how often you like getting on XBL
if you want to deal with needing to keep the firmware on your drive up to date
if you wanna risk your system getting banned
if you want to take the time to read all the stuff you'll need to do it effectively
if you are ok with voiding your warranty (if applicable)
if you are comfortable opening up your console since you could possibly damage something
