For meals, as soon as you wake up down a whey protein shake to fight canabolic state. Get a whole food meal within a hour. If I know I cant make one, then night before boil my 6 jumbo eggs and take my whole wheat bagel to go.
Someone said it earlier, protein powders are good for supplementation, but to add quality muscle you need alot of clean whole foods. Muscle is worked in the gym, but made in the kitchen!!! Critical time is immediate post workout and then 1 hour after that.
Been doing this ahwile and have had alot of succes, 6' 235, not sure of BF but I am lean and 34 waist, not like bonnie's 0% body fat!! LOL
Also keep in mind, and it took me awhile to get this into my head, but you should cycle. off and on seasons. Pack on mass during winter months where a few extra pounds are ok and then cut in spring then maintain summer time. You dont have to be a pro to do this. Your body cant handle going all out year round.
Bottom line, eat clean whole food, supplement with shakes, WORKOUT! but have realistic goals.
