most likely, which is why funny car/top fuel rebuild the engine after every run

i remember seeing something a while back saying that nitromethane wont burn if you put a flame to it but its more like diesel where it ignites from the compression. the spark plugs are there just to make it hot and more readily combustible. but that was a while ago and my memory sucks, i could be wrong.
