Hehe, please don't get me wrong on the whole JD Powers thing. All I meant is I'm somewhat more inclined to base a decision on JD Powers than someone on the internet who had issues.

But yes, American cars really have picked up the slack. Regarding theholycows theory, I'm not sure- but I think I see some of that. I think the angle I see it from most is either: someone has a Lexus and something goes wrong and they're shattered because nothing is ever supposed to go wrong with Lexi -or- Domestic cars are supposed to suck (I don't think this- this is 'internet think example'- no pitchforks please-I have 3 domestics....) so as soon as something breaks then thats proof all domestics suck.

Personally, having been around for awhile, if anything I'm shocked at how reliable all cars are now. Going 150,000 miles with nothing but oil changes doesn't even get you bragging rights anymore. I remember people complaining on how hard it is to work on cars now- but I also remember having to play with the carb on my '77 Blazer when I went up into the mountains and then again when i came back down. Plus chokes and crap like that. Seems I spent a few hours a month fiddling. Now I go a year without doing anything but checking/changing oil.
