Oldsmobile V8's in general got better mileage than other manufactures with similar displacement. Mainly because of the great bottom end torque. My mid eighties Delta's I had got 22 to 25MPG highway depending on if they had the overdrive tranny or not. Pretty decent for a incredibly underpowered 4200 pound car with the aerodynamic properties of a brick. My 67 and 69 Cutlass's would get almost the same when they were stock. Those Olds diesel blocks are worth their weight in gold to people who build Olds motors. They are incredibly strong blocks.
