Its a misconception that a rear wing on a fwd car is useless. When driven aggressively (like on a track) some fwd cars have the tendency to oversteer, which is ultimately cause by not enough rear grip. Adding downforce over the rear gives it more grip & helps to stabilize it. But for this to have a meaningful impact, it would need to be something like two or three hundred pounds of downforce at say 50 mph, and that means that the wing has to be pretty big.
