The only advantagr Alabama will have over LSU is home field and that is pretty big and tough on offenses especially if they can limit their production, make the QB shuffle his feet a little and hit him, even if they don't sack him the hits take a toll on QB's and makes them starting looking for the hit instead of the receiver.
A Lot of teams went through this spread era and it was fashionable but now that teams have more athletic defenses they have kinda figured out the spread....probably the reason Urban Myer is in a booth now instead of on the field. Physical football wins out more than finess.
Texas did extremely well getting good running backs. Even if a QB is having an off day, power football will usually prevail 5 yds at a time. It ain't flashy but it wins in the end.
Alabama's ability to run the football against Florida 4, 5, 6, and 7 yds at a time in the first half led to the dominance in the second have. Florida's defense was just wore out. I saw that in the SEC Championship in 09 against Florida. When you drive the ball 92 yds down the field 5 yds at a time it kills their spirit and the reason Alabama had two longer runs in the 4th qtr.
Everyone talks about a playoff...we have one..OU Vs OSU/Texas and Alabama Vs Fl and LSU and vice versa. The Big 10 gets no love because of past experiences...is it fair...NOPE but that is the reality.
Boise St gets alot of credit because they beat OU 1 TIME on a trick play and they beat a really not so good Georgia team this year. SO WHAT? I would love for Boise St to play three ranked teams especially back to back to back like OU, OSU, Texas or Alabama, Ark, LSU......They MAY win one. Kinda like when Hawaii played Georgia in the Sugar Bowl........Total Domination
