How is the LHN going to presuade kids/athletes to come to Texas ?

#1 have you seen the network yet ? Its a Football highlight reel over the games of this season and from the past. Also they have programs talking about up coming Games.

#2 Volleyball , Basketball and rowing and indoor and outdoor track events are shown most of the time.

#3 in the state of Texas it is a UIL Rule/violation if any student or school is shown on Tv for any reason during a game or PERIOD.

I wished some would have bought into the lonestar network but it didnt happen that way. I dont have the LHN. A friend of mine does and yes its cool but im not going to lose sleep to get it as imo its nothing more right now than a talk radio show on Tv to coaches and players about games.
I can see that online.

I dont see why a recruit would pick UT over any school because of this network lol
This is a fair question....here's my un-LHN-educated take on it.

I see the LHN possibly swaying recruits in 2 basic ways...the first is marketing. With the added exposure of the Longhorn brand now into your living room, there is greater exposure to the brand.

The second, I think will be influence from the parents who willl actually pay for the LHN. "Hey son, UT is a great school, in a great conference. Most of your games we can drive to but those that we can't get to, we can watch you on the LHN." Sooner, Aggie, Cowboy, Red Raider, etc parents won't be able to say that. Both of these things will apply to all sports.

Have I seen it? No, I live in Baylor country and I don't even know if it's available here in the Fort Hood/Killeen area. I would see it just to see the production value and how well the content is presented.

Although Football is the #1 sport for revenue in Texas, the LHN isn't a purely football network and it should highlight ALL University sports.

As far as the UIL rules....again, I'm right with you on this. I think the State of Texas has done an excellent job in trying to protect these HS kids with rules like this. However, it has been widely reported that written into the UT/ESPN contract was language stating that UT would TRY to provide Texas HS football games for ESPN. After this was shutdown by the UIL, NCAA, and the BIG XII, the LHN still attempted to show HS football highlights of teams/kids that they were targeting for recruitment. Sort of smudging that period a little.

Will the LHN be the SOLE reason a kid picks UT over another school? No, I don't see it like that. But I do see it as one more thing that can be added to a pros and cons list for a kid and their family picking a school.
