To illustrate your logical fallacy, we can use this example:
Since my father smoked 2 packs a day for 50 years and didn't get lung cancer, who are you to say that smoking is irresponsible even though many people have died from lung cancer caused by smoking? And to claim smoking is irresponsible must mean that you hate smokers or are jealous of them for having the extra money to buy cigarettes.
Whether someone
wants to smoke or not, or should be
allowed to smoke, are entirely different issues from whether or not smoking is irresponsible.
As you can see, your logic doesn't hold up to scrutiny and fails to address the argument of irresponsibility. Whether or not parents
want to buy their kid a high powered "status" car, or whether or not they should be
allowed to do so, are entirely different issues from the question of whether or not it is irresponsible to do so.
