They've been recycling names for a while now. For example, the 'L99' was used in Caprices during the mid 90's. Back then it was a 4.3L cousin to the LT1. The LS6 was a high output 454 big block in the 70's
That said ... I would have thought that for the next series of engines they'd go from 'LS' to 'LR'
