I try so hard to do everything I can to cooperate and make it easy for the cop. I admit my violation, don't claim ignorance, don't argue, smile, talk pleasantly, etc. I pull over quickly and in a safe spot, making sure to pull over far enough so the cop isn't standing in a travel lane but not so far that he thinks I'm trying to hide something on my passenger side. I put my keys on my dash and my hands visibly on the steering wheel, and don't root around in my pockets and glovebox for my license/registration/insurance until the cop is watching me intently, so that he doesn't think I'm trying to have a weapon ready when he walks up.
Do you know how much mercy I get? Zero. Every time, I get whacked with whatever the cop reasonably thinks he can give me. I must be ugly or something. Everybody I know always gets warnings or entirely let off, and I get all the tickets, even if I wasn't driving abnormally offensively.
People spend loads of time dangerously tailgating me wishing I'd go faster, because I usually try very hard to avoid a ticket, then on the rare occasion I drive more like others I get a ticket. I don't even have any modifications or damage that attracts attention to my cars! They are plain, no tint, all license plates present, etc.

I think it's not done on purpose; I think the cars that turn everyone else's heads also turn cops' heads. Then again, my efforts to drive unremarkable-looking vehicles don't seem to help me...
