IMHO, Kimber is overrated, overpriced for what you get. Yep, I've owned one, had finish issues. Kimber's warranty and customer service, IME, is second to everyone's. There are better 1911s, with less issues and for the same money, has Kimber. They are the Glock, sans plastic, of the 1911 world. You are either a fan, or a hater, lol.

My cheap Charles Daly 1911 EFS, has a better slide to frame fit, very close in trigger, finish is just as good, and is just as reliable as my Kimber Custom II was, with standard finish. My CD also came with extended slide release, and extended ambi safeties, to go along with the bumped, extended beaver tail grip safety, skeletonized combat hammer and trigger. Not all those will be found on a Kimber.

All that bad said, the Kimber shot very well, was extremely reliable, and IMHO, wasn't hard to carry, nor conceal, in the right holster. Yep, it was the full size 5". The right holster makes all the difference in the world. However, due to the horrible CS, and the crappy finish, I'll never buy another new Kimber.

YMMV.
