Well, well, this one proved too tough or should I say esoteric. The answer is Alexander, of Alexander the Great. The conquerer and the philosopher (remember the one who wouldn't wear clothes, slept in a barrel, et cetera) met in the streets of Athens. Diogenes was sitting on the paving; Alexander blocked the sunshine striking Diogenes. The old man asked Alexander to "Move out of my light." The utter nerve to speak that way impressed Alexander thus his reply.
