The only reason to hide behind the veil of a conference is if your team isn't earning recognition on it's own.
When John Blake was coaching (if you can call it that) at OU during the 90's, and we went 12-22 (our worst stint in history), I wasn't chanting BIG12-BIG12-BIG12 because Nebraska was fielding some of the best teams in the history of the sport. Even then, as a boy, I still cheered for my Sooners every Saturday as we got embarrassed on the field, hoping our fate would turn.

Says the Sooner fan!

While I go BLUE! I respect the SEC due to the massive numbers they put up and always the amount of top 25 teams in the nation which play each other. Look at the rosters and statistics the level of play is GRADE AAA, of course, S&P will downgrade it if the Aggies come in with the cowbells. But hey thats life and we don't always get what we want and others always screw it up for us. Its just a proven fact that southeastern teams rule... go to the FCS and look at the Top 25...4 are from our Southern Conference Georgia Southern, Wofford, App. State, and Chattanooga. Go Figure! Nuff said...
On a side note...just because one team tends to dominate a conference doesn't mean anything other than the other teams suck there should be a nice rotation in a tough conference not total dominance or the dominate team needs to move up and play with the BIG FISHES~
