Yeah, I've heard several formulas over the past decade and a half. So long as I have arch support and the tread on the bottom isn't worn down I don't replace... If you look close you can see the sides have gotten bowed out on the old shoes which means they are pretty much junk at that point as they don't really give support. I say this knowing full well I've never suffered a leg injury or shown signs of joint deterioration unlike most runners. Then again, most runners don't keep up with weight lifting really well. My thought is that building up the muscles, especially in the calves and thighs prevents a lot of injuries to the joints.
