I could shed some light on this...

Been a "cop" for roughly 18 years..Never had a ticket quota.

I have been pulled over, hum, lets see...at least 50-60 times in 23 years of driving. I can say I deserved the tickets I got and there was a reason to pull me over.

Some things that are not obvious that will get you stopped if a "cop" wants to, other than a moving violation.

Dog in lap
Air freshener
Plate light out or dangling
License plate cover or trim
Driving with interior lights on
One armed driving

Probably 30 more if I thought harder.

I myself rarely write anything under 15 mph as I speed myself. Do I take liberty of my position especially driving a T/A or my new Camaro...yes. Any "cop" who tells you otherwise is a f-ing liar.

To answer the other part of do "cops" target fast cars? Yes and no. Being a performance enthusiast myself, I tend to believe that "most" operators of your typical performance car can handle it. But not necessarily the case. I have never heard of an officer in all my years that specifically goes after Vettes, Camaros, T/A's, classic cars..I really never heard of it. As well, never came across an officer that specifically profiles. Yes, we do "profile" per se, but in a general way.

Lets say there is a hot area of narcotics sales and trafficking. We ("cops") know that black males that drive two tone Caprices or Dodge Magnums are, from past intel, likely selling or transporting.

Other than that, I believe there is no set criteria by officers that specifically target fast cars....Unless you are going fast.

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?
