This doesn't give us a bad name. It's one guy in a fast car. It would be a bad name if he topped out at that speed. We aren't just driving pretty cars. We're driving fast cars. Some of us are going to get speeding tickets. Some of us—God forbid—are even going to put that ugly retro kit on our cars.
I am not saying that driving dangerously is acceptable. Bad behavior is not cool. Now, I don't want to be involved in a discussion of what speeds are safe or acceptable in different neighborhoods,
and we are not going to be discussing anything negative about law enforcement officers.
If someone takes a Camry on a speeding rampage through the city, no one is going to make a big fuss unless the acceleration is unintended. Let's be honest, that's the only reason to drive a Toyota that fast.
It's just another car. If someone takes a Gallardo out on the highway and stomps on the gas, it's a news story. I'd rather be in the Gallardo category. I don't want to drive something boring and uneventful. I want to turn heads and tick off the dicks that think they're somehow morally superior for driving 5 under instead of 5 over. I want a Camaro, not a Camry, and if I make the news because I have a Camaro, I will be ready to smile for the camera.
