That average is expected to continue rising, since all major automakers have committed to building more efficient models in the face of uncertain fuel prices and tougher regulations."
Yeah, it puts a bit of strain on the automakers, but with the DI and Ecoboost engines being used in more and more vehicles, I don't think it poses much of a threat. Besides, the Volt alone will push GM's overall MPG rating up by 1 or so when it launches.
