It is important to always remember JAM… I believe this is how the saying goes if I remembered correctly…

Jeopardy – Is your or your loved ones life’s in Jeopardy?
Ability – Does the assailant have the ability to cause bodily harm or death?
Means - Does the assailant have the means to cause bodily harm or death?

If all three are present then remember to squeeze and not jerk the trigger.

That's one way to look at it, although I've never heard it put in that way. Its the same exact way as we are taught, just worded differently. To justify any shooting, in any circumstance, you have to be able to articulate...
1. Means, 2 Opportunity, and 3. Intent. Its that simple. I like to run scenarios through my head and play them out, running each one by that criteria that is just to justify the use of deadly force. I believe doing that will help you make a better decision if you are faced with a like or similar situation.

As for me, I carry everyday, all the time, and everywhere. Being a Federal Agent affords me the pleasure of carrying concealed where other CCP holders are not able to. I love being able to skip the TSA security and all their crap and walk right onto an airplane with my handgun concealed. And I can say for certain that being a LEO has gotten me out of quite a few tickets, as I am a bit of a speed demon at times But basically, I carry all the time so that I have the peace of mind knowing that if a situation ever arises, be it with my wife and me, or anyone else for that matter, I will have the best opportunity to intervene and possibly save someones life.
