New GM =/= Old GM. Different companies, that's the basis of this whole thing.
Does this reasoning work both ways? That is, if new GM is not responsible for the cars built by old GM, does that mean anyone with a GMAC loan on an old GM car not have to pay it back, or that the dealers got all old GM inventory they had on the lot at the time of the bankruptcy for free?

If new GM is such a separate entity from old GM that new GM is free and clear of having to honor any warranty claims or other obligations of old GM's, why would anyone who had any obligations toward old GM owe anything to new GM?
