The gearing in the Volt is fairly tall, because it doesn't have a multi speed transmission. Its motor-transmission-power blending/directing unit is so complicated, I can't figure out if it has a 2 speeds or just 1. But regardless, for slow speeds, its probably the rough equivalent of driving around in 2nd or 3rd for most cars. Then it also weighs nearly 3800 lbs. So in the grand scheme of things, its not terribly quick, around 9 seconds to 60 and 16.5-17 for the 1/4.

But for what its worth ... if you run it against a Buick Regal (that has an extra passenger or two) equipped wit a 2.4L ecotec, that is forced to start in 3rd ... the Volt should destroy it. Its a small victory, but hey ... winning is winning

Best guess would be between 3500 and 4000 lbs.
