Yea but its like those emails folks send around to get an emotional response out of folks.
If it’s a joke, post it as such, if it’s made up just to get an emotional response, post as such.
Saying "not my Grandpa" still denotes an air of truth like it came form a real source.
When it’s just a made up funny story posted in every forum on the web.

The fate of my whole families life was determined through the scope of a German sniper. When my Grandpa stepped off the boat on D-Day to rush the beach. Him and his friend next to him only took one step off the boat. And his friend got the bullet through the head.
