With about the same miles on my 2006 GTO and at stock power levels, that car had been in for warrany work about 4 times.
Secondly, having owned a number of different Ford, GM and Chrysler products in my time, I would say, in terms of quality and reliabilty for cars built since 2000, that they would rank 1)Ford, 2)GM and 3)Chrysler.
If you have owned and driven cars from each brand and use that experience as a guide (and not what you have read and/or heard from somewhere else) I am okay with whatever opinion you post on the matter.

I have to agree in terms of build quality about fords, I have had a few in the past and they have been amazing. never had a problem with any of them. GM for the most part has been great but my mom had a denali a few years back.....nothing but problems, and the jeep I have just hit 3k miles and started leaking front diff fluid last week
To the OP: Id go with the GT500 but if you could careless about a back seat amd looking to do something like autocross racing possibly id go with the vette. Both are awesome cars but for the "wow" factor id have to give it to the shelby, there are just a lot of corvettes around.
EDIT: also with either of those cars you shouldnt have much trouble talking them down a few grand.
