I was reading an article on the ZR1 in the latest 'AutoWeek', and they mentioned that GM uses a $60,000.00 a gallon "sealant/glosscoat" on the exposed carbon fiber on the ZR1.  The reason being that left unprotected, the carbon fiber would be affected by the elements.

sixty thousand dollars That seems a little extreme for a gallon of any kind of gloss coat. BUT That's just me.
