Of course you are. Most T2 cars would put down T1 times with major power bumps too. Some T1 cars, along with T2 cars, are restricted to keep everything as level as possible, while the others are typically only allowed minor power bumps from filters, cooling, exhaust, and tuning to keep the cars more reliable. Take most of the successful T2 cars and toss an extra 200rwhp at them like you have with your camaro and they'll be running down T1 cars all day long. I understand where you're coming from and I don't think it can be said that an sti is any better than the fifth gen either, but your comment is very misleading. An sti with coilovers, sways, some fat street tires, minor brake upgrades, and say a gt30r with other minor supporting parts would be running T1 times no problem.
