Background info...

I was in Iraq from April 2009 until January 2010 as a Cavalry Scout. Attached to our platoon was a section of Snipers. One of them happened to be a tattoo artist. He used as as canvas for his apprenticeship so when he got home he could try to be promoted to a full time artist. I talked to him about my first tattoo, and American flag and some crossed sabers. Something simple, kinda small to go on my arm or back to see if I wanted more. This is what we ended up with...

Whoops. Total of 24 hours invested. This was started and finished in Iraq. Then I thought... that wasn't so bad, and my right arm looks funny with no ink. I did a lot of reading on American Political Theory, Revolutionary Thought, Constitutional Philosophy etc while I was deployed (made those radio watch shifts go quicker). I read a book that inspired me to take this to an artistic level. After about 18 hours of work I currently have this:

I have another piece to go on the inside of my arm that will parallel the one on my left arm. That and some background and touch-up work are all that's left on it.

The next two are in the design stages... a back piece (probably relating to Ganesha and other more spiritual ideas) and on the left side of my chest (over my pec) a memorial piece for my dad.

Anyway, hope you all like them. I enjoy telling the story and showing them off. True pieces of art that came from a gifted artist.
