I don't care if you removed the engine before trading it. The dealer inspected the car, and accepted it as trade. Chevy dealers problem. What is it they say? "Let the buyer beware".
Don't give them one red cent, in fact you should ask for a free wash or oil change for your inconvenience, because you had to come back in and deal with their incompetence!!!
