Their "Tridion" safety cell as they call it, is pretty neat, and uses the crash zones of the other cars.
As a result, the Smart fortwo has 4 out of 5 possible stars in the Euro "NCAP" crash ratings. The only reason it hasn't got 5 is that it hasn't got back seats, and thus consequently can't be assessed on child seat safety.
