I'm not sure about the bike. The doc probably won't know either unless he's a sports doc. If he can bike with the boot on then maybe, but if it hurts he'll have to stop.

The upper body weight lifting is a no brainer though. If he's putting on weight then he needs to reduce the calories while he's not working out to head it off at the pass.
Thats what I told him. I said you can't eat the same as your boyfriends do you gotta cut back and no more fast food till you get back on your feet.
