Well I've read a lot of the post in this threap in response to the OP. I think it could have been worse than it was. Im no expert in law enforcement, and never claim to be one but again it does sound like it could've been worse. Look at it this way, at the end of the day, you got to go home. Not everyone gets that. If you were driving with a suspended license, or not driving but the officer claims you were, etc., they could've taken you in. I've had plenty of tickets in my short 28 years on this earth. More than I can remember or would even like to and I'm a black man as well. I could've pulled the race card a lot of times but I haven't. I got ticketed cause I was in the wrong and got caught. I was at a gas station once, (a gas station I always went to.) and there was a deputy that was leaving when I pulled in. Try parked across the street and waited for me to drive off. I didn't leave right away, made a phone call, smoked a cigarette and left. The deputy followed me for about a mile and pulled me over because I looked "suspicious". Not sure how but that's what he said. Mind you I wasn't dressed like a "thug". Turns out my license was suspended. I had paid the fine for a precious ticket and showed the deputy proof. So the fault wasn't on me but the county because my payment wasn't entered correctly, and the ticket wasn't cleared. But he let me go home, plus a to key for driving with a suspended license unknowingly. I still believe it was because I was black. (Maybe more so cause I was driving my 07 mustang GT..! little joke). But another time I got pulled over and I was clearly wrong. Deputy came up to the car and asked me what the hurry was. I tell him I knew I was speeding but I was alone on a back county road and no one else out there and had been on the road all day and just wanted to get back home. Was that an excuse? No. But the deputy understood, I looked tired as hell at that time. He wrote the ticket for 5 over posted. But I was doing 78 in a 55. The guy was cool as hell, and even asked me about my car and the stripes I just had painted on that week. He didn't have to give me a break but he did. And happy he did. It coulda been worse. Now I can't speak for every single member of law enforcement or the different cities and states they're in. But not every single one is out to get you cause youre black it's just impractical. However, that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Now that I've written a book, basically it sounds like they caught you. It coulda been worse. I hope you do get it worked out in your favor though....
