Commercial trucking still uses dinosaur guts, I'm going 30,000 mi. between changes with a filter change at 15,000. (that's with 40 qt pan) This motor has 471,102 miles and MAY use 1/2 gallon in 30,000 miles.
The newer motors and their designers deserve a lot of credit in this regard.
