I agree with you, I think the Volt is innovative but I don’t think people are ready to buy it yet for lack of confidence or rather first year worries. I think Chevy trucks are also very popular, but they’re still behind in technology. Ford which has the twin turbo six and dodge rumoring about a smaller displacement turbo diesel. GM seems to be lagging in the small car segment namely the Aveo. I really don’t want to bash on GM because there doing pretty good but have a ways to go. Like I said, I purchased a Chevy Equinox last month and my wife and I are very happy with it.
The Volt is an experiment and a statement. It does everything the other companies can't, and they did it FAST. But they knew from the beginning it wasn't going to sell like a Cruze or make them any money early on. I believe toyota was in a similar boat with the prius.
With regards to trucks and technology...I believe Chevy was the first to achieve 21 mpg hwy, and the only one to have a hybrid full-size truck...it may not be named something clever like "Ecoboost", but it's certainly what I'd call technology...
Aveo: See the 2012 Sonic. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
I'm very glad to hear you're enjoying the Equinox. I had the pleasure of renting one after it first came out and I was blown away!
I think some people aren’t listening, I’m not picking on GM, I just want to see them be the best they can be. Unfortunately it’s hard to compete with companies that have lower labor cost and I think GM is doing a good job considering. The good news is, the labor disparity is about closed. And the legacy costs are gone. All the cars and trucks coming out of the company from about the calendar year 2012 onward should reflect that nicely.
but if everyone purchased American we would still be driving those horrible vehicles from the late 70’s to mid-80’s. Sad really!!

I'd have to disagree...but that's a conversation for an entirely different thread.
