What is so confusing about the Mustang line? Seriously I was a GM die hard before went to ford.com and was pretty much "caught up" and up to speed in the matter of minutes. Roush's, Saleen's, Supersnakes, GT350's are all aftermarket packages done outside of the factory just like SLP, Hennessy, ect, so all there is to choose from is
V6
GT
Boss
GT500
You act as if there has been a GT500, GT540, GT550, GT600.
I dont see that as being "Too hard to keep up with" but I'm willing to help you out via PM if you like.
I actually think the Vette has just as many if not more variants and optional packages.

The following 2011 Mustangs are available at Ford dealers:
- Mustang
- Mustang RTR
- Mustang DUB Edition
- Mustang GT
- Mustang Pace Car
- Mustang GT RTR
- Mustang Boss 302
- Mustang GT500
- Mustang 350-GT
- Mustang Super Snake
In 2010, the following packages were also available:
- Mustang Cobra Jet
- Mustang Yankees Custom
- Mustang Hurst Pace Car
I left out Saleen and SMS models because they are not as consistently available at dealers, much like SLP products are not consistently available at Chevy stores. Let's also not forget about limited editions like the prostate cancer awareness model.
Here is a
resource with information on Mustang models.
