they also said range topping. That would probably be the GT500 engine and the article comparing it to the 412 HP GT is probably a mistake on their part. Besides if the car is lighter, a 500HP engine could possibly still get the car across the 1/4 mile quicker than the current gen GT500...
HP may drop across the line, but if weight savings make up for that, it doesn't matter now does it?
a 90HP motorcyle can do 0-60 in around 3 seconds. and that's with probably around 50lb/ft of torque too.
I will admit that I will be slightly saddened if cars start showing lower HP numbers much like cars of the late 70's when there was an emissions crunch. But as long as the cars are faster and don't sound like fart cans, I'll get over it, I'm sure.
