Maybe it's just me, but I think the looks of the newer (2005+) feature styling/bodylines that mimic the '60's versions, so if you liked that styling, how could you not like the new Mustangs?

In my area, it's getting to be where you see almost as many Gen5 Camaros passing you on the road than you do the newer Mustangs. If sales kepp going the way they are, the Gen5 is going to be in the same "overplayed" category as the Mustang. Besides, you never se many GT500's out on the roads, so you have a much better chance of seeing yourself in a Camaro than you will a GT500.
As for the OP's question, I have several friends who were big GM guys who "jump ship" to a GT500 and have no regrets at all. Buy what you want, not what other people think you should have. I get crap about my Crossfire convertible all the time, but I love it.
