Spike, that car brings back a great memory. Mrs. Number 3 pulled us one of the first (CTF) 405 hp Z06s. We are driving on Woodward Ave. (which I did today in the SS). Some kid in a Ford Probe pulls up next to me with 2 buddies in the car. Clearly a well "exhausted" car as he revved the hell out of it just to show me how loud it was. He made indications that he "wanted to go". I rolled my window down and asked, "are you serious? I've got 405 hp. He said, "I've go nitrous mannnnnn, I've got nitrous". Had to be there.
Mrs. Number 3 was heavily involved in the C5 with Chevrolet. I remember her bringing home the early hardtop car when it was supposed to be just a stripper. Cloth seats roll down windows etc. But someone realized making a cheap Corvette was just a less profitable one so the Z06 was born. My team did the Carbon Fiber hood in the last years production. So we have a warm spot for that car.
It is certainly a better price, but after cruising Woodward today and another 100 or so miles, I've come to the conclusion that I'd have a hard time taking a C6 or C6 Z06 over a Camaro SS. It is really growing on me. But a C5 Z at the right price is certainly tempting.
