Honestly I'd pick up a ls1 fbody and go from there. Gut the interior, throw on some koni 4/4's and a set of Sam Strano springs, and you're good to go. Not as small as a Cobalt or a skittle but for the prices they are going for now, and the sheer potential those cars have, its your best bet.
