I've been part of the shuttle team since the return to flight mission STS 114 in 2005, and worked with NASA since 1994. It's a shame that the shuttle is going away before we have a replacement. America has been the leader in space for 40 + years and now we're just going to give our domincance in space away.

NASA's annual budget is less than 1% of the total federal budget and has been since the early 90's when it was just over 1%. Even in the Apollo days it never got over 5%. People always think that NASA cost the american people so much money when it really doesn't.
