Negative. OBL was killed with a 7.62 round from a rifle (the exact rifle isn't really known - perhaps a SCAR-H? Not sure what ST6 rolls with). This is part of the reason the photos weren't released. Two 7.62 rounds to the face... there's not much to show off after that. Just gore.
As far as the laws regarding gun ownership, Doc Lawson did a pretty good job summing it up. Remember though that state law can change what's allowed. As long as your state allows it, ownership of Full Auto, Short Barreled Shotguns/Rifles, All Other Weapons (flare/grenade launchers - good luck getting the ammo though), and Suppressors are totally legal. The problem with FA toys is that the National Firearms Act of 1986 heavily regulated the importation of FA firearms and what is transferable to civilians.
