Just to through some gas on this flaming fire...
The one thing that a rear wing on a FWD WILL do is help under heavy braking. It can reduce the amount of rear end lift, increasing the effectiveness of the rear brakes at high speed.
Also, since most FWD cars are VERY nose heavy (think 63%/27% balance) the wing can also help to even out effective weight distribution at higher speeds, allowing both sets of tires to break free more evenly.
Of course, NONE of this applies to street cars... but whatever. Sushi bars are even cooler on your trunk.
