it wasnt a hrdpc. but it does have a distributor behind the intake manifold. you can just barely see the top of it in the above picture.
it was a CrossRam webber intake
however, there are distributor caps on fuel injected engines. the distributor is only for the spark, you can run the fuel however you want. my LT1 is a fuel injected distributor spark motor. well, it was, ive since converted to a coil on plug setup, but I still retain the optical portion of my distributor.

define NEW chevy engine. I can get a brand new Gen 1 SBC today. i would venture to say you are meaning a MODERN chevy engine.
but all 3 of the 76 Camaro's that were used for filming all had NEW crate 350 motors and rebuilt TH350 transmissions. but for the money shot, Bay changed the picture of the engine but kept the dialog the same
